Mesenchymal Stem Cells: Therapeutic Promise for Lung Disease
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) hold therapeutic promise for lung diseases due to their multipotent nature and immunomodulatory properties. Preclinical studies have demonstrated their ability to differentiate into lung-specific lineages, promote tissue regeneration, and reduce inflammation. Clinical trials are underway to evaluate the safety and efficacy of MSCs in various lung diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
