1. Kuwait – Al-Sabah Family

The Kuwaiti royal family, the Al-Sabah family, has ruled Kuwait since the 18th century.

  • The current Emir of Kuwait is Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, born in 1937. He succeeded his half-brother, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
  • His Crown Prince is Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Prominent family members also include Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who serves as Prime Minister​(Unofficial Royalty).

2. Qatar – Al-Thani Family

The ruling family in Qatar is the Al-Thani family, which has governed since the mid-19th century.

  • The current Emir is Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who took over from his father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, in 2013.
  • Sheikh Tamim leads a large family, including several brothers who play key roles in Qatari politics, including Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani​(Qatar Just).

3. Saudi Arabia – Al-Saud Family

The Al-Saud family, founded by King Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1932, governs Saudi Arabia.

  • The current King is Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and his heir apparent is Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS).
  • The royal family consists of thousands of members, but key figures include former kings, ministers, and influential princes, such as Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman and Prince Khalid bin Salman​(Middle East Eye).

4. UAE – Al Nahyan and Al Maktoum Families

In the UAE, each emirate is ruled by its own royal family, with the most prominent being:

  • Abu Dhabi: The Al Nahyan family, led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ), the President of the UAE.
  • Dubai: The Al Maktoum family, with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum as its ruler and the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE.
