Early Life and Education
Viktor Hryhorovych Lizohub was born on October 12, 1947, in the village of Trebukhiv, Brovary district, Kyiv region, Ukraine. He graduated from the Kyiv Medical Institute named after O.O. Bohomolets in 1972. In 1974, he completed a clinical residency in neurology at the Institute of Gerontology and began his career as a junior researcher. He defended his candidate’s dissertation in 1978 on the topic: “Regional cerebral blood flow in aging and cerebral atherosclerosis” .librarynmu.com
Academic and Professional Career
From 1980, Lizohub worked as an assistant at the Department of Therapy of the Pediatric Faculty of the Kyiv Medical Institute. In 1990, he defended his doctoral dissertation on “Features of diagnosis and drug treatment of coronary heart disease in patients with initial coronary atherosclerosis.” He became an associate professor in 1990 and a full professor in 1995. From 1995, he served as the head of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 4 and simultaneously as the dean of the third medical faculty of the National Medical University named after O.O. Between 2005 and 2008, he was the director of the Department for Coordination of Clinical Trials at the State Pharmacological Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Scientific Contributions
Professor Lizohub has authored over 550 scientific works, including 5 monographs, 1 textbook, 12 educational manuals, and 37 inventions. His research focuses on the development of diagnostic and treatment methods for hypertension and coronary heart disease. Honors and Recognition
Professor Lizohub is a member of the Presidium of the Republican Society of Therapists of Ukraine, deputy chairman of the Academic Council on Cardiology and Rheumatology at the National Medical University, and a full member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). In 1974 he completed a clinical residency in the specialty of Nervous Diseases at the Gerontology Research Institute and was selected by the competition for the post of junior researcher.
In 1978 he defended his thesis on the topic: “Regional cerebral blood flow in aging and cerebral atherosclerosis”.
Since 1980 he has been an assistant at the Department of Therapy of the Pediatric Faculty of Kyiv Bogomolets Medical Institute.
In 1990 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences: “Features of diagnosis and drug treatment of coronary heart disease in patients with initial coronary atherosclerosis.”
In 1990 – Associate Professor, since 1995 – Professor at the Department of Therapy of the Pediatric Faculty of Kyiv Bogomolets Medical Institute.
Since 1995 – Head of the Department of Therapy of Pediatric (hereinafter referred to as the Third Medical) Faculty of Kyiv Bogomolets Medical Institute.
1995-2005 – Dean of the Third Medical Faculty of NMU.
2005-2008 – Director of the Department for Coordination of Clinical Trials Control of the State Pharmacological Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Since 2009 Director of the Scientific and Expert Center for Medicinal Products Based on Nanotechnology of NAS of Ukraine.
