Cristiano Ronaldo stem cell treatment

Cristiano Ronaldo has suffered a muscle tear and will have stem cell treatment to be fit for Real Madrid’s Champions League second leg with Manchester City.

AS reports the injury, which kept Ronaldo out of the first leg goalless draw on Tuesday, was diagnosed when the forward went to a clinic in Madrid, having ‘tired’ of Madrid’s medical department….(more info).

Zinedine Zidane won’t know until the day of the second leg against City – May 4 – if Ronaldo will be available, having had a relapse from an injury suffered against Villarreal.

Ronaldo was originally said by Zidane to be ‘100% fit’ to play at the Etihad Stadium, but following another injury, wasn’t able to make the bench.

Madrid’s medical department will oversee his recovery, AS adds, even though the club hasn’t released a medical report with information on the issue.

Ronaldo’s involvement in the second leg against City won’t be decided until close to game time so as to give him as great a chance as possible of returning, without risking making the injury worse, which in turn threaten his participation in the Champions League Final, if Madrid qualify.
